Dulcolax (generic name: bisacodyl) is a laxative drug.

Dulcolax is widely prescribed to relieve occasional constipation and to treat intestinal irregularity.

Dulcolax is also used in the preparation for intestinal diagnostic procedures, in pre- and postoperative treatment.

The tablets are usually taken at bedtime and provide gentle and effective relief the next morning.

The usual adult dosage is 5 to 15 mg taken at bedtime orin the morning before breakfast.

The tablets start acting in about 6-8 hours.
